Echo is coming to Disney Plus and Hulu on January 10, 2024. All five episodes will be airing at the same time on Hulu, so you can binge the show in one go. Good news for MCU fans: you can watch Echo for free as Hulu offers a 30-day free trial to new users, a deal that can be available to you if you use a VPN.
VPNs change your IP address, making it seem like you’re browsing from somewhere else. So if you’re in Germany, for example, you just need to connect to a VPN server in the US, and Hulu will think you’re actually in the US.
Here’s a quick guide on how to do it:
- Get a VPN subscription. We recommend NordVPN for unblocking Hulu and Disney Plus.
- Download and install the VPN app. NordVPN is available on most popular devices.
- Select a VPN server in the US.
- Sign-up for a Hulu account, and start watching Echo on January 10.
You can use a lot of VPNs to watch Echo, but NordVPN is by far the best choice. It’s fast and reliable, and we’ve successfully used it to watch shows on Hulu and Disney Plus in the past. Not to mention, you can get it for % off with our link:

After a solid debut in 2021’s Hawkeye, Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo, will headline her own show, premiering on January 10, 2024. The 5-episode limited series follows Maya in the immediate aftermath of Hawkeye, plus we’ll get a glimpse into her origin story and Native American heritage.
Wondering where to watch Echo if these platforms aren’t streaming where you live? Want to take advantage of Hulu’s free trial but can’t access it in your country? Below, we’ll show you how to watch Echo for free from anywhere in the world.
How to Stream Echo From Anywhere
To watch Echo for free with a VPN, follow these steps:
- Get a NordVPN subscription. We’ve tested and reviewed 60+ VPNs, and NordVPN performed best at unblocking Disney Plus and Hulu.
- Download the VPN app. NordVPN is available on almost all devices you’d use to watch Echo.
- Connect to a server in the United States. You just need to pick a country, and NordVPN will automatically connect you to the nearest server.
- Open Hulu. You can also use Disney Plus, but Hulu has a 30-day free trial.
- Create an account or log into an existing account. You may need to provide a payment method from the US. If you don’t have one, try a different country or go with Disney Plus.
- Enjoy Echo when it releases on January 10!
Remember:
Echo is only available on Hulu until April 9. After that date, you’ll have to use Disney Plus, and you won’t be able to get the 30-day free trial.
We use NordVPN to watch plenty of shows on Hulu, so we’re happy to recommend it. We also used it to watch MCU shows on Disney Plus, so we know it’s good for that as well. Not to mention, NordVPN was consistently the fastest choice out of all the VPNs we tested.
Best of all, you can get it for 69% off with our link. Hurry up and get it before Echo leaves Hulu:
Why You Need a VPN to Watch Echo
Echo is a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) show, which means that Disney has exclusive rights to it and to where it’s streaming. So far, MCU shows have only been released on Disney Plus, but Echo will mark a first for the franchise. It’s also streaming on Hulu simultaneously, at least until April 9.
Unfortunately, Disney Plus and Hulu are not available worldwide. They’re limited to a few dozen countries per continent, so not everyone will be able to stream the show at launch. That’s why you need a VPN to watch Echo: it can help change your virtual location, bypassing geographical restrictions and letting you access Disney Plus and Hulu.
Plus, you can use a VPN even if Hulu is available where you live. VPNs make you safer and more anonymous online as they encrypt your browsing activity and download history.
The Best VPNs for Watching Echo
Not all VPNs are good at getting around Disney’s geo-restrictions. You’ll need reliable speeds, a trusty server network, and a proven track record of unblocking streaming sites.
Luckily, you don’t have to spend hours on research. We tested over 60 VPNs to find the best option for Disney Plus and Hulu. Here’s our top three:
1. NordVPN: The best VPN for streaming Echo
Features:
- Fastest VPN on the market, so you won’t have to worry about buffering or lag while watching Echo
- Over 6000+ servers in the US, perfect for accessing both Hulu and Disney Plus
- Proven track record of unblocking streaming sites, thanks to its obfuscation server technology
- Enhanced online privacy with an ad blocker and malware protection suite
NordVPN is our top choice for streaming. We’ve used it to stream plenty of MCU movies and shows, and it never disappoints. With its fast speeds, we’ve watched Loki, Hawkeye, and Moon Knight without lag or buffering.
Plus, NordVPN has over 6000+ servers in the US, which helps prevent IP leaks and slow speeds. We’ve also used NordVPN to unblock Hulu and had no problem accessing the site from outside the States. If you want to watch Echo for free, Hulu’s 30-day free trial for all new users is perfect.
NordVPN might not be the cheapest VPN on the market, but you’re getting a lot of value for $ 2.99 per month. And since all Echo episodes will be available from launch, you’ll need far fewer than the 30 days offered by the money-back guarantee.

2. Surfshark: Cheapest VPN for watching Echo
Features:
- Fast and reliable VPN connections, perfect for MCU movie marathons
- Insanely low price point at only $ 1.99 per month
- Unlimited simultaneous device connections, so you can share one subscription with the whole family
If you’re on a budget, Surfshark’s the best choice for Echo. It’s one of the cheapest premium VPNs on the market, and you can use it on unlimited devices, which means you can split the bill with family and friends. Whether you want to watch Echo on your TV, laptop, or mobile device, Surfshark can make it happen.
Luckily, you’re not sacrificing anything for this low price. Surfshark is the second-fastest VPN, according to our extensive tests, and it has an impressive network in the US. Plus, we were always able to unblock Hulu and Disney Plus with it, so you’ll be able to watch Echo for free when it releases on January 10.
You can get Surfshark for just $ 1.99/month. And once you have the VPN, you can get Hulu’s 30-day free trial. Not to mention, you can use it on as many devices as you want and get it for 82% off with our link:

Features:
- Best VPN for routers, perfect for watching Echo on your smart TV
- Reliable server network in 105 countries and counting
- Excellent 24/7 live chat with agents that help you fix VPN streaming issues
Smart TVs (and other platforms like gaming consoles) don’t support VPN apps natively. If you want to watch Echo for free on these devices, you’ll most likely need to install a VPN on your router. This process is complicated, but ExpressVPN offers custom firmware that makes it easier.
And that’s not its only perk. ExpressVPN is one of the fastest VPNs out right now and has a server network spanning 105 countries, enough to stream Echo from anywhere.
ExpressVPN is more expensive than the average VPN, so it’s not the best pick if you’re on a budget. But luckily, you can get an exclusive 49% discount with our link:

How We Chose the Best VPN for Streaming Echo
When writing guides like this one, we roll up our sleeves and test all the VPN apps we recommend. We use them to see if they can access platforms like Hulu and Disney Plus and how well they can stream shows like Echo.
When doing the testing for this article, we considered these criteria:
- Speed: A VPN will affect your speed no matter what you do. The best VPN for Echo should have a minimal impact on your connection, so you can enjoy the show in 4K, lag-free.
- Unblocking track record: Hulu and Disney are good at blocking VPNs, so we prioritized apps that can get around the toughest geo-restrictions.
- Server network: The best VPN for Echo can get you access to reliable servers in countries where Disney Plus and Hulu are available, like the US.
Echo Release Schedule
The official release date for Echo is January 10, 2024. The show was supposed to be released in November of 2023 but was pushed back to early next year to reduce costs and franchise fatigue. With the latest Marvels movie underperforming at the box office, we can see where Disney’s coming from.
Luckily, fans won’t have to wait for weekly releases. Echo will drop all five episodes of the show on January 10, so you can binge-watch the series as soon as it is released.
What is Echo About?
Spoilers:
This section contains minor spoilers for the MCU storyline after Hawkeye (2021).
Echo revisits Maya Lopez, the first deaf Native American superhero in the Marvel Studios canon. We’ll get to see her origin story and the aftermath of Hawkeye (2021).
The show will explore themes of family and community. Maya must face her past, reconnect with her identity, and face the real consequences of her ruthless behavior if she ever hopes to move forward. The plot will also follow the aftermath of her father’s death, the tracksuit mafia, and the outcome of Hawkeye, all while taking the character in a slightly different direction than in the original Marvel Comics.
Fans of the Netflix Marvel shows will be happy to know that Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise his role as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. Plus, Echo takes inspiration from the grittier Marvel shows of the early 2010s, like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. Echo is the first Disney MCU series to get a TV-MA rating, and you can quickly tell why from its trailer:
Content Warning:
The trailer depicts violence, ableism, hateful gestures, death.
While Maya Lopez has always been Native American, this series places a stronger emphasis on representation. The actor who plays Echo, Alaqua Cox, is Native American, born in the Menominee Nation. She’s also deaf, just like the character.
The directors are also Native American (Sydney Freeland, Navajo) and Australian Aboriginal (Catriona McKenzie, Gunai/Kurnai). The producers consulted with Native American Nations in the making of the show, especially for the powwow scenes. The staff even traveled to attend a Choctaw powwow.
The cast also features other indigenous actors, like Graham Greene (Dances with Wolves), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon), Zahn McClarnon (Longmire), Chaske Spencer, Cody Lightning, and K. Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs).
Echo‘s lineup of executive producers is also impressive. It includes Jason Gavin, Richie Palmer, Victoria Alonso, Amy Rardin, Marion Dayre, Louis D’Esposito, Christina King, Brad Winderbaum, and Stephen Broussard. Of course, no modern MCU production would be complete without Kevin Feige as executive producer.
New York City catches on fire this January 10, with Echo streaming exclusively on Hulu and Disney Plus. If you want to see Maya Lopez reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace her past, get NordVPN and stream the show for free on Hulu.
Conclusion: How to Stream Echo From Anywhere
Echo marks many “firsts” for the MCU: the first Native American deaf protagonist, the first TV-MA rating, the first show to release on Hulu, and the first series to try and mold itself after the Netflix Marvel shows. We’re nothing but happy about all of this, and we’re eager to see where the story goes on January 10, 2024.
If you’re outside the US (or if you just want more privacy), you can use a VPN to watch the show for free. Hulu offers a 30-day free trial for all new members, and a VPN will help you access the streaming platform from anywhere.
